Many towns require permits for roof replacements, which can add several hundred dollars to the total.
     

    A simple formula is:
    Roofing Squares × Cost per Square (materials + labor) + Permits + Disposal = Estimated Roof Cost.

    Most New England homeowners spend $8,000–$25,000 for a full replacement, with higher-end materials or complex designs costing more.

  • Not necessarily. A $30,000 roof may be reasonable for:

    • Larger homes with more surface area

    • Premium materials such as standing seam metal or slate

    • Complex rooflines with multiple peaks, valleys, or dormers
